Simple Pleasures

"Can you use two twin beds" someone asked... "Why yes we can" we replied. "Great!" They said, "We'll bring them over this week."

Judah is almost two so he is close to needing a bed and Jordan was sleeping on an oversized chair.

Here is one of the beds they brought us:

Of course, it matched Alli's black frame futon just perfect. They also brought the bedding. Talk about cherry on top!

It was the delight of our little Jordan's whole week! You see, Jordan always gets the leftovers (really the "shaft" is more like it). But she is always joyful and never disappointed. It was so wonderful seeing her light up over her very own big girl bed!

THEN today someone brought Alli a complete bed set! Their 10yo was all done with it and they thought we could use it. Wouldn't you know it has horses on it? ALLI'S FAVORITE! Crazy sometimes how things work.

If we had not changed the way we do Christmas, these things would have been on my list.

I am always blown away by how God takes care of the little details of life; the simple little pleasures he gives us. He is so good. With or without simple pleasures he is good, but I still stand in awe of the little things sometimes more than the big things.

Jesus puts it this way:

25
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:25-33

  1. Daddy GOD is sooooooo good! HE knows our needs before we do. And he is also concerned about our 'wants'. Psalm 37:4 "Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart". I guess I can mark off bedding for the angels from my list. :) What about Judah? Love the new 'blog' background!
This morning's visit was great! Love, nana m
